July 2010
She painted her shoes to match her mood
She drew her deepest secrets
And her wildest dreams
Tying the laces tight and secure
To keep her from floating away
She rode her bike to the shop each day
Selling vintage clothes and memories
She smiled when her favorite sun dress sold
Reminding her of the sweet kiss he had stole
The End of Summer
Like a red-leafed tree on an autumn lake
Her cheeks blushed crisp like the air
Like a moon-lit fog in a midnight meadow
Her eyes reflected misty knowledge of loss
Like a snow-falling cloud hiding from the sun
Her tears revealed portraits of love on the run
I want to travel with the gypsies
To a place where time does not exist
Singing and dancing my life away
In rhythm, rhyme and harmony
She thought if she learned to move like a swan
Her inner beauty would emerge and shine
I will be your dreamcatcher when you wake from trembling
I will be your comforter when you wake from shivering
I will be your summer when you wake from wintering
I will be your lover when you wake from sleeping
He drew her portrait from memory, he hadn’t seen her in awhile
He didn’t realize until he finished, he’d drawn her without a smile
Sipping tea at the Parisian cafe
I couldn’t help but stare
A glimpse of Heavens’ beauty
A wreath of laurel in her hair
Sometimes I read by candle-light to illuminate the magic in the words
Sometimes I sleep by candle-light to illuminate the meaning in my dreams
Sometimes I dance by candle-light to illuminate the beating of our hearts
Some times I love by candle-light to illuminate the beauty in your sighs
Each morning at sunrise he played the blues
Chasing away the dawns misty hues
Providing a melodious and musical spark
To vanquish his demons that live in the dark
Walking barefoot in the rain made her heart feel like spring
Cleansing her completely from the cold winter of his love
I went on quest to the deepest wood
Flowing water and leafy breeze
To drink deeply of earthy summer
And dance with the willow trees
She wanted the portrait as proof she actually existed
A fact she had doubted in the dark space before dawn
Like a majestic beacon over a rough and rocky shore
You guided me to your harbor
Like a penetrating horn in a dim and foggy night
You guided me to your shore
Like a brilliant sunray in a deep and darkly forest
You guided me to your embrace
Like a lightning bolt on a hot and stormy day
You guided me to your love
She hadn’t noticed in the first blush of romance
It only became apparent when she wanted to dance
He tried to keep her from flying wild and free
So she escaped the trap and proceeded to flee
We will live in a house without any walls
We will sleep each night over a quiet stream
We will bath each morning in rainbow falls
We will dance each evening on a bright moonbeam
He drew his life on paper thinking he could erase any mistake
He removed her from his drawings but still his heart did ache
She took a lantern through the darkened trail
In search of the love she had lost that night
The dewy mist erased the stain of the veil
As she broke free and merged with the light
